When I was a kid I had the pleasure of knowing my Great Grandmother. She grew up in Norfolk and was dating a fellow who took her to Nags Head and they watched the first airplane fly. Within one lifetime she flew coast to coast in a Boeing jet airplane. I thought how cool it would be to see that much change in one lifetime. Also when I was young I remember black and white bathrooms and drinking fountains. Now we have a black President. So much change.

Off work a couple of days last week with some affliction. Head stuffed, chest stuffed you know. Yesterday I got the pistol to my local gun shop so it can be transferred to my friend John. Other than that it's just life in the suburbs.

So last week the Ruger LCP pistol returned from the factory and it is my intention to give it away. I had no idea how involved it is to ship a pistol to another state. I have to pay my local gun shop to transfer it to his local gun shop where he fills out all the paperwork to complete the transfer. In a way it is a relief because now it will be legally his firearm. Linda is coming down with the mung and feels about half bad. When it blossoms out she will be in the bed if she's anything like me. I've a scratchy throat so I guess I'm next.

Terry returned from her visit with her sister in Florida yesterday. I feel quite sure someday we'll live down there. She loves it so and I bet it would do wonders for my arthritis. Sometimes we get on one another's nerves but I did miss her so.

So i went to set up my web development platform on the new OS X 10.5 and guess what, is was fugged up. Something about the default permissions in the httpd.conf file which required text editors, config files, hell I thought for a minute I was in Linux. Apple really dropped the ball on this one. In 10.4 it was easy peasy. After an hour or so I gave up and installed MAMP. It was easy and I'm all about easy. Maybe Apple will get around to fixing this sometime but until then, just go get MAMP.

Just returned from the Voter Registrar's office. I turned in my voter's card and filled out the form to be taken off the voting rolls. Think what you will but it think it's so much theatre and the decisions are still made for us in those formerly smoke filled back rooms. Don't give me that sh*t about I can't complain now because I reserve the right to bit*h about anything anytime.

So I survived the "worst week" in financial history last week. When I sold the farm I took the proceeds and put them in a money market. I took that amount and divided it by the number of months until retirement and have been investing it in index funds in approximately a fifty fifty stock bond split. What did I change about that last week? Nothing. I passed the test.

Since I started investing, several years ago, I always wondered what I would do in a panic. The Dow down 639 today bringing the total to 8579 from 14164 it's all time high. Seven straight days down. So far so good. I have a feeling it will take years to come back.

Picked it up yesterday evening. Now I'm getting her all set up and retrieving data from hither an yon. Twenty four inches of slick.
