Cub Cadet

The latest addition to my rag tag collection of grounds maintenance equipment, a 1972 International Harvester Cub Cadet 129 Hydrostatic. The cost of this fine piece of equipment was $ 0.00, that's right, free. My close friend John and I were able to get the fine machine started and drove it onto the trailer after buying and installing a starter generator belt! It came from my brother Matt after a fellow gave it to him and he realized it was a bit much for his yard. He installed a new set of points.

Yuck

Poop chute

I told you last week I would get a picture of the "procedure" up here. It might be a little difficult to make out, but this is the inside of my colon and the area just ahead is the juncture of the small intestine and the colon. The Doc said all clear and I'll see you in ten years.

Work at Home?

7:00 A.M. : Enough of this blog modification for a bit. My primary day job is Fire Protection Inspector in Virginia Beach, a rapidly expanding city with a quite a lot of room for growth. I addition to that, "in my spare time" I develop and maintain twenty odd MSAccess and SqlServer databases. I now have a new project for the Department Director's Administrative Assistant, an issue tracking database. I best get cracking.

12:00 : Still at this database. Why the hell does Access make the NotInList event such a PITA?

4:00 : Done enough for the client to take a look at. This time I'd like to avoid switchboards and the like to make the application faster.

I Survived

Well I survived yesterday's colonoscopy. Really the worst of it was the getting ready. I don't know what kind of miracle drug he gave me, but I really don't remember anything that happened. One of the days I'll have to look into that. I got the Doc to give me a picture but that will have to wait 'till I get back to work. I need a scanner which is all set up there and it would be a pain to set the one at home up.

I guess I could have gone in today but since I have a ton of annual leave to use or loose before the end of the year, I decided to take the rest of the week off.

Later...

The receptionist from the doctor's office called and asked how I was doing. I nice touch! I told her I ate a quart of ice cream last night and a Whopper from Burger King. Also that I was enjoying my day off which I treated myself to as a reward.

She chuckled.

The big day...

Up at 6:00 this morning and another dose of Phspho-Soda. It's a long wait 'till 1:45 this afternoon with nothing to eat or drink. I've been killing time fooling around with various Blogging tools and they don't seem to have much to offer that makes me want to switch from this one.

Last week during my belated follow up visit to my regular physician after shoulder surgery, I made the mistake of asking about a colonoscopy. Big mistake, she said at age 52 I should have already had one and immediately made a referral. Tomorrow's the big day, but the preliminaries started this morning. Last night was to be my last meal until tomorrow night. All liquid today. Around 11:30 I was very hungry and figured I'd try sugar in the form of Coke. It seemed to work out alright and tonight a couple cups of coffee with sugar seems to be doing the trick.

I don't know if you have had the pleasure of the Fleet's Phospho-Soda experience, but the label says it's for colonic cleansing. One little bottle tonight and one in the morning and no coffee tomorrow morning. Right now I'm in the cleansing mode!

Since I was reassigned as a Fire Inspector with the City, a position in Mechanical Inspections became available. Today was my younger brother Matthew's first day on the job in my old position. He's a quick study and I'm sure he'll get along fine if he can only ignore all the politics involved with the position.

Brother Matt

This was his second try at the position since I left. The first time Dennis Jones, an inspector form an adjoining city beat him out. His perseverance paid off the second time after another Inspector retired.

New data server....

Twin Pentium Pros.

Well I finally got a dual Pentium Pro machine, shown here on the right. An Intel PR440FX motherboard and a pair of 200's. Ancient, I know but it appears to run 2k Server just fine. I'm spending this afternoon updating the software onboard, installing service packs, and adding sqlServer 2000 for development work. This machine will get a BSD operating system as soon as I'm finished with a current project for work. The machine on the left was being used but will now be retired

Spinal sterosis . Scary sounding isn't it. Monday on a follow up visit to my regular doc after shoulder surgery she thinks I have it. Read a little about it and I think you'll agree it's nasty. So now I'll be scheduled for a bevy of tests and they weren't any fun last time.
